Our story began with great enthusiasm and a clear vision that has eventually become our mission: to enable music and sound production on a world-class level. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of dedication to the crafts of recording, mixing, and mastering, and the relentless passion for music, Longplay Studio Zagreb is proud to welcome its clients into a new environment certified by Dolby Atmos™ and Apple Digital Masters.
Having collaborated with artists, publishers, and people from many creative departments and on various scales, we had the opportunity to accumulate knowledge and resources that allow us to provide consistent quality. Although we specialize in commercial music production, our clients and partners reach into the gaming, advertising, and movie industries.
Our PMC 6-2 XBD main stereo monitoring system, complemented by the renowned Genelecs The Ones for Dolby Atmos 7.1.4, ensures that every note and every beat is heard with utmost clarity. And when it comes to capturing that vintage vibe, our collection of authentic microphones like the AKG C12 VR, Neumann U87, RMS 12, Peluso VTB, and Sony C48, bring warmth and character to every recording.
The man with the vision
The studio’s owner, the man behind the scenes, and the lead in-house personnel is Tomo Bacurin “Diamond”, a renowned producer, experienced musician, and entrepreneur. Having recorded for and performed with many regional superstars, successful live bands, and innumerate studio projects, he had gained an impeccable sense of sound direction and an explicit taste for production.
His experience determined the direction of his creative work, prominently in the scopes of mixing, mastering, keyboard playing, and song arrangement. Over the years, he brought together a team of co-producers, authors, and musicians capable of handling projects of all sizes and budgets. He started making his dream come true at the age of only twenty after he had built his first music studio in the attic of his family house.
As his clients’ interest in his work had grown, he relocated the studio by refurbishing a building in his backyard and buying his first analog Soundcraft TS24 console, which was where the real magic started to happen. Names started knocking on the door, as his sound was getting recognized by chart-topping artists and other industry professionals, which had the studio enjoy consistent growth. Always following the trends with the latest pieces of equipment, software, plug-ins, and know-how, Tomo firmly stood behind the studio’s two-decades-long quest for innovation and modern sound. During that period, he had used, tested, bought, sold, and rented almost every converter, compressor, microphone, monitor, and digital and analog effect of all brands and makes, vying to ascertain the ultimate setup.
In 2019, the studio acquired the brand-new SSL AWS 924 Delta console and then the plans for the new control room began, bound to feature a Dolby Atmos™ system. With undeniable certainty, he was convinced that would be an appropriate step towards perfection. Having hired the best men in the field of acoustic engineering, developing the project, and sourcing the funds, the work began and wouldn’t stop for almost two years.
When the reconstruction was finished in 2023 and Longplay Studio Zagreb came to life in its full glory, his presumptions were proven right. The Dolby Atmos™ system truly provided unparalleled sound quality and enabled the exploration of possibilities unlike anything ever before.
